UPDATE: The 2013-14 school year was a difficult one; a number of personal troubles led to me doing an insufficient job of homeschooling. I have decided to put my kids in school, so the booklists here will not be updated. Welcome! This is the website for Little Reasoning, a homeschooling method/curriculum.
The central feature of this curriculum is lots and lots of free library books, organized into "booklists" by grade and subject.
These booklists cover literature, art appreciation, poetry, history, drawing, and science. Music appreciation is also included; these are free youtube videos, with just a few supplementary library books starting in 5th grade. Writing (including capitalization, punctuation, and spelling) is taught by simple writing assignments. Typing, Spanish, and Geography are learned through free websites. English grammar and math are not currently covered; I experimented with using booklists and simple math problems to cover those subjects, but I found it insufficient for the elementary grades; we used workbooks instead.
